Active Separation Measures for Relational Crimes

On August 4, the police stated in response to President Lee Jaemyung's mention of establishing a dedicated investigation team for industrial accident cases, "The National Police Agency will oversee investigations nationwide, and dedicated investigation teams will be newly established within the criminal investigation units of each provincial police agency."

Park Sungju, Commissioner of the National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency, said at a regular press briefing on this day, "We will establish a closer investigative cooperation system with the Ministry of Employment and Labor regarding industrial accidents than currently exists."

Regarding President Lee's directive to "improve sensational reporting practices related to heinous crimes," Commissioner Park explained, "This is intended to emphasize strict adherence to existing public relations guidelines," and added, "Restricting contact between working-level officials and the media refers to unifying the communication channel with the press."

Commissioner Park also stated regarding the response to multi-victim frauds such as voice phishing, "We are discussing increasing the number of dedicated personnel for analyzing and blocking voice phishing."

Regarding countermeasures for relational crimes, which have recently occurred in succession, Commissioner Park said, "Regardless of the victim's intention to punish, perpetrators with a high risk of recidivism will be actively separated through measures such as attaching electronic monitoring devices, detention in holding cells, or arrest."
