KakaoBank Donates 50 Million Won to Independent Film Festival

Participation as the Only Private Sponsor of the 27th Jeongdongjin Independent Film Festival

KakaoBank announced that it donated a total of 50 million won to the 27th Jeongdongjin Independent Film Festival, which was held from August 1 to August 3 at Jeongdong Elementary School in Gangneung, Gangwon Province.

The Jeongdongjin Independent Film Festival is the only outdoor independent film festival in Korea and is the first and largest of its kind in the Gangwon region. This year, a total of 27 independent films were screened for free in a barrier-free version for the visually and hearing impaired. Subtitles and sign language interpretation were provided at the opening ceremony and for major programs to enhance accessibility.

KakaoBank participated as the only private sponsor of this year's film festival. The sponsorship funds were used to improve facilities to guarantee mobility rights for transportation-vulnerable groups, including the installation of LED screens for sign language interpretation guidance, the operation of free shuttle buses for people with disabilities and the elderly, and the provision of temporary restrooms and ramps for wheelchair users.

KakaoBank also supported environmental protection efforts. The "waste emission survey," which had been suspended last year, was resumed thanks to this sponsorship. Visitors were provided with reusable "zero-waste kits" and recyclable "foldable paper chairs" instead of disposable items. Through these measures, the festival aimed to minimize its overall environmental impact.

A KakaoBank representative stated, "We are honored to contribute to the Jeongdongjin Independent Film Festival, which has been held free of charge for 26 years," adding, "We plan to continue supporting various activities that enhance social value in the future."
