Fogging Disinfection... '200,000 Won Fine for No Prior Notification'

Up to Five False Alarms Due to Fogging Disinfection Reported in Sejong This Year
Prior Notification to 119 Required to Prevent Unnecessary Dispatches

Fogging Disinfection... '200,000 Won Fine for No Prior Notification'

If a fire truck is dispatched due to a mistaken report while conducting fogging disinfection without prior notification, a fine of up to 200,000 won may be imposed.

According to the Northern Fire Station of the Sejong Fire Headquarters, there have been a total of five mistaken reports caused by fogging disinfection in the region so far this year. In particular, unnecessary mistaken reports can hinder prompt response to actual fire incidents, so it is essential to notify 119 before conducting fogging disinfection.

Areas where notification is mandatory for activities such as fogging disinfection include: areas adjacent to national or local government administrative agencies and public facilities; densely populated residential areas and apartment complexes; livestock farms and greenhouses; construction sites and locations where flammable construction materials are stored; forests, rice paddies, and fields; and multi-use business establishments.

Prior notification must be made by calling 119 or the local fire station before performing fogging disinfection.

Park Jongho, Head of the On-Site Response Division, stated, "We ask for your special attention to prevent unnecessary waste of firefighting resources due to mistaken reports," and added, "Please make sure to notify 119 or the local fire station by phone, fax, or text message before conducting fogging disinfection."
