Jeollanam-do has taken proactive measures to prevent major industrial accidents by producing and distributing posters to prevent heat-related illnesses in its affiliated workplaces, in response to the increased risk of heat-related illnesses and industrial accidents due to the prolonged heatwave this summer.
The distributed posters are intended to protect the health of workers who work in extreme heat. The main content includes: compliance with the five basic rules for responding to heatwaves (water, wind/shade, rest, cooling equipment, emergency measures); suspension of work if necessary; intensive management of groups vulnerable to heat-related illnesses; and instructions for emergency response in case of an emergency.
Through these posters, Jeollanam-do emphasizes to supervisors the importance of improving the working environment and implementing protective measures during heatwaves, while also aiming to raise workers' awareness so that they can protect their own health, thereby preventing major accidents.
In particular, sites where outdoor work is frequent or where cooling is difficult will receive intensive support during heatwave warnings to prevent major accidents caused by extreme heat.
An Sanghyun, Director of the Jeollanam-do Safety for Residents Office, stated, "Heat-related illnesses caused by heatwaves can easily lead to serious industrial accidents, posing a significant safety issue. We will prioritize the lives and health of workers by strengthening the promotion of heatwave response guidelines and preventive activities, and by establishing a field-oriented safety management system."
Jeollanam-do plans to continue its multifaceted efforts to prevent disasters and industrial accidents and to improve working conditions, with the goal of creating a safe workplace free from major accidents.
