According to the legal community on August 2, attorneys Kim Hongil (Judicial Research and Training Institute class 15) and Bae Boyoon (class 20) submitted their notice of appointment to the special prosecutor team the previous day as legal representatives for former President Yoon.
Attorney Kim has served as the lead counsel in the legal team defending former President Yoon against the investigation into charges of insurrection related to the December 3 Martial Law. Attorney Bae is also a member of the defense team for the insurrection and related charges.
With former President Yoon submitting the notice of appointment to the Kim Keon-hee special prosecutor team, it is expected that responses such as submission of opinions and coordination of summons for investigation will follow.
Since being detained by the special prosecutor team for insurrection on July 10, former President Yoon has refused to comply with both the special prosecutor's summons for questioning and the ongoing insurrection trial at the Seoul Central District Court.
The Kim Keon-hee special prosecutor team attempted to summon former President Yoon for questioning on July 29 and 30, but he did not attend, citing severely deteriorated health that rendered him unable to move.
