Gwangju City is partnering with KB Financial Group to launch "Small Business Parenting Support Package Season 2."
According to the city on August 2, with support from KB Financial Group, a total of 435 million won will be provided as a one-time special grant of 500,000 won each to 870 families, including 170 families expecting a baby and 700 families who have recently given birth.
This initiative was created to ease the initial childcare expenses for small business families welcoming new life despite the prolonged economic downturn. It also aims to deliver congratulations and encouragement from the local community.
Applications will be accepted until August 31. If the number of applicants exceeds the available support, applications may close early. Eligible recipients are small business owners or employees residing in Gwangju City whose household, either the applicant or their spouse, is currently pregnant as of the application date or has given birth between January of this year and the application date.
Applications can be submitted through the official Gwangju i-Kium online platform. Applicants must submit one copy each of their resident registration certificate, business registration certificate, and small business confirmation (issued by the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Office of SMEs and Startups). The selection results will be individually notified via text message in September. For more details, please visit the Gwangju i-Kium website.
Lee Youngdong, Director of the Department of Women and Family, stated, "Gwangju City and KB Financial Group wish to share the joy of welcoming new family members for small business households experiencing pregnancy or childbirth." He added, "Through this project, we hope to ease the financial burden on small business owners, and we will do our best to ensure that children are welcomed with warm support from the local community."
