Heavy rain is expected across various parts of the country throughout the weekend on Saturday and Sunday.
Starting in Jeju Island from the afternoon of August 2, the rain will expand to the west coast of South Chungcheong Province and the Jeolla region from late afternoon, and then to most parts of the country except for the east coast from nighttime, continuing into the following day.
The expected rainfall over two days is 50 to 100 mm (with some areas receiving over 120 mm) for Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, Daejeon, Sejong, and South Chungcheong; 30 to 100 mm (with some areas receiving over 120 mm) for Gwangju, South Jeolla, Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang; 30 to 80 mm (with some areas receiving over 100 mm) for inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, North Chungcheong, North Jeolla, and all but the northern part of Jeju Island; and 20 to 80 mm (with some areas receiving over 100 mm) for Daegu and North Gyeongsang.
In addition, the five West Sea islands are expected to receive 30 to 80 mm, Ulleungdo and Dokdo 20 to 60 mm, and the east coast of Gangwon and northern Jeju Island 10 to 40 mm of rain.
Between the afternoon of August 3 and the morning of August 4, some areas may experience very heavy rain of around 30 mm per hour, accompanied by gusty winds, thunder, and lightning.
The morning low temperatures are forecast to range from 23 to 28 degrees Celsius, and the daytime highs from 31 to 36 degrees Celsius.
With heat wave advisories in effect nationwide, the maximum perceived temperature will rise to around 35 degrees Celsius, making it extremely hot, and tropical nights are expected in many areas.
Fine dust concentrations are expected to remain at 'good' to 'moderate' levels nationwide due to smooth atmospheric dispersion.
Wave heights are expected to be 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the East Sea, 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the South Sea.
For offshore areas (up to about 200 km from the coastline), wave heights are expected to be 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the East Sea, 1.0 to 3.5 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the South Sea.
