Grand Prize in Webtoon: "A Precious Heritage Arrives in the World"
No Winners Selected in the Animation Category
The Suncheon World Heritage Preservation Council in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do announced on August 1 that the winning entries for the '2025 Suncheon World Heritage Festival' webtoon contest were finalized on July 31. This contest was organized as a pre-promotional program for the World Heritage Festival, which is scheduled to be held next month, with the aim of conveying the significance of world heritage from a creative perspective.
Out of a total of 48 submissions, four works were ultimately selected as winners in the webtoon category. In the animation category, no entries met the criteria, so no winners were chosen.
The Grand Prize was awarded to Kim Junseong from Daegu for the work "A Precious Heritage Arrives in the World." This piece was praised for delicately depicting the profound emotional value of world heritage through the story of a family visiting Seonamsa. The Excellence Prize and Encouragement Prizes went to Jeon Sihyeon for "Wish," Shin Hyeonse for "Seonamsa Revisited," and Choi Youngjae for "Seonam Boy," respectively.
The winning works will be unveiled at the World Heritage Festival Forum to be held at Paru Hall, Suncheon National University, on September 12. They will also be available on the official website and SNS channels.
A city official stated, "World heritage is not a relic of the past, but a present and future asset that all of us living today must cherish and protect together." The official added, "We hope that this festival will provide citizens and visitors with an opportunity to deeply appreciate the value of world heritage."
