Uiseong County Offers Midsummer Bookcance at Local Libraries

Enjoy Books and Cultural Experiences All August Long

Uiseong County in North Gyeongsang Province will open its local libraries as cooling shelters throughout August and operate the "Library Bookcance (book+vacance)" program, which combines reading with cultural experiences.

Uiseong County Offers Midsummer Bookcance at Local Libraries This program was designed to allow people to enjoy their leisure time by reading books in a cool library, escaping the heat.

This program is designed to allow residents to escape the heat and enjoy leisure time by reading in the cool environment of the library.

The county has also prepared a variety of participatory events to expand the role of libraries beyond simple reading spaces into cultural shelters within daily life. One representative event is a reading activity where visitors can write on a transcribed bookmark provided at the library, post it on their personal social media with a designated hashtag, and have a chance to win a prize through a drawing.

The Bookcance program will be held at four locations from August 1 to August 31: Uiseong County Library, Bongyang Onnuriteo Library, Geumseong-myeon Small Library, and Dain-myeon Small Library.

In particular, for children and teenagers on summer vacation, a variety of special classes will be offered, including a "Summer Vacation Reading Camp" (August 9) where participants can experience making an advertisement video (CF) based on books, as well as English fairy tale coloring and traditional folk painting fan drawing.

Kim Jusu, Governor of Uiseong County, said, "Through this program, I hope the library will become a comfortable space to escape the heat and a cultural platform that all residents can enjoy," adding, "We will continue to make efforts so that the library can become even closer to the lives of our residents through various reading and cultural programs."

Details of the event can be found on the Uiseong County Library website or by phone.
