Minister Kwon Sends Condolences on Passing of U.S. Chosin Reservoir Veteran Norman Board

On August 1, Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Kwon Oeul sent a condolence message to the family of Norman Board, president of the Georgia Ray Davis Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association in the United States, upon hearing of his passing. Norman Board was a U.S. veteran of the Korean War who participated in the Battle of Chosin Reservoir, according to the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.


In his condolence message, Minister Kwon stated, "President Norman Board was a hero who fought with dedication for the freedom and peace of the Republic of Korea in harsh and fierce battlefields such as the Battle of Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War." He expressed his deep condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family and wished for the repose of the deceased.


Minister Kwon also noted, "Even after the war, the late Norman Board served as president of the Ray Davis Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association, actively promoting Korea-U.S. friendship and commemorative projects related to the Korean War, thereby strengthening the alliance between the two countries." He added, "The government and people of the Republic of Korea will honor the passion and noble dedication shown by the late Norman Board and strive to ensure that his legacy is remembered by future generations."


Minister Kwon's condolence message, along with a floral tribute, will be delivered to the bereaved family at the funeral to be held in Roswell, Georgia, on August 6.
