Pocheon City, where houses, factories, roads, and crops were flooded due to the torrential rain, is accelerating recovery efforts not only through collaboration between the city and the military but also with the help of external volunteers and organizations. Volunteers are helping residents return to their daily lives by clearing debris from affected households and delivering relief supplies.
On July 31, a total of 172 volunteers from six organizations?Saemaeul Association of Guri City, NongHyup Property & Casualty Insurance, Pocheon Urban Corporation, Dongducheon Urban Corporation, Paju Urban Corporation, and NongHyup Life Insurance?participated in the recovery efforts. In addition, 165 military personnel joined, bringing the total number of participants to 337. Despite the heat wave, they worked together to remove sediment from roads and farmland and organize household goods, contributing greatly to the restoration.
An official from Pocheon City stated, "We are grateful to the volunteers and military personnel who came from all over the country," and added, "We will do our utmost to support and carry out recovery activities so that citizens can return to their daily lives as soon as possible."
Pocheon Mayor Baek Younghyeon said, "The dedication shown by those who have gathered at the flood recovery sites is a great comfort to the citizens of Pocheon," and added, "We are grateful for the demonstration of the power of community as we overcome the pain of natural disasters together."
