Two Categories: Education/Culture/Sports and Social Welfare/Industry
The "Goheung County Resident Award" is conferred upon distinguished residents or individuals originally from Goheung who have made significant contributions to the welfare of county residents and the development of the region, thereby enhancing the honor of Goheung County. One recipient will be selected in each of the two categories: education/culture/sports and social welfare/industry.
Candidates may be nominated by the heads of towns or townships, or by the heads of various institutions and organizations. The recommendation form and supporting documents verifying the candidate's achievements must be submitted to the town or township office with jurisdiction over the candidate's address (or registered place of origin for those originally from Goheung).
The final recipients will be determined through a review by the Goheung County Resident Award Selection Committee, scheduled to be held in October, and the awards will be presented at the ceremony commemorating the 51st Goheung County Residents' Day.
To date, a total of 48 residents and individuals originally from Goheung have received the "Goheung County Resident Award," including the late artist Chun Kyungja (Goheung-eup), the late professional wrestler Kim Il (Geumsan-myeon), former national soccer players Park Jisung (Jeomam-myeon) and Kim Taeyoung (Doyang-eup), and National Assembly member Park Hongkeun (Dodeok-myeon), thereby raising Goheung's profile nationwide.
