On August 1, the city of Paju in Gyeonggi Province simultaneously opened three new public daycare centers and officially began their operation. This launch is a significant achievement as part of the initiative to expand public childcare infrastructure, aimed at realizing the vision of "Paju, a Great Place to Raise Children," and actively responding to the childcare needs of citizens.
The newly opened public daycare centers are: Unjeong 1-dong Municipal Hobansummit Daycare Center, Unjeong 6-dong Municipal Haedam Daycare Center, and Tanhyeon-myeon Municipal Heyriipyeonhan Daycare Center, with a total capacity of 248 children.
The city of Paju signed agreements with new apartment complex developers to receive management building spaces free of charge, renovated the interiors, and created a pleasant and safe childcare environment tailored to the needs of children.
Kim Kyoungil, Mayor of Paju, stated, "We will continue to create childcare environments where the future generation of Paju can grow up in comfort," and added, "We will also keep expanding childcare services that citizens can truly experience."
Meanwhile, Paju currently operates 61 public daycare centers to establish a stable and balanced childcare infrastructure. The city plans to expand this number to more than 70 centers by 2026 and will continue to promote the expansion of public daycare centers to reduce the childcare burden on parents and improve access to public childcare services.
