Yeongdeok County in North Gyeongsang Province established a Disaster Victims Support Task Force Team on July 1, 2025, and is making every effort to provide intensive support and systematic management for disaster victims residing in temporary modular housing.
As the heatwave continues day after day, Yeongdeok County has completed the installation of 1,000 electric fans, 926 refrigerators, and 781 air conditioners to prevent heat-related illnesses. In addition to reducing electricity bills, customized support is being provided, including the installation of sun-shielding film on the windows of all 781 temporary modular homes as a heatwave mitigation measure.
Furthermore, the county has assigned and designated dedicated public officials for each of the 781 temporary modular homes by linking a department head responsibility system, thereby operating a close management system for disaster victims.
One dedicated public official is assigned for every three disaster victims to regularly listen to their inconveniences, difficulties, and suggestions. Through systematic and intensive management tailored to individual situations, all public officials plan to focus their efforts so that the residents can quickly regain stability in their daily lives.
In addition, the county is operating a joint support system between the public and private sectors by linking with the currently operating "Chuldong! Deogi Daejang" program, so that simple facility defects and other issues can be addressed promptly.
County Governor Kim Kwangyeol stated, "Through close management in preparation for various disasters such as summer heatwaves and heavy rainfall, we will help residents safely get through the summer. All public officials will do their utmost to strengthen support for daily life stability and facilitate a swift return to normalcy."
