The Hope Dream Builder is a social contribution program by HDC Hyundai Development Company designed to help young people preparing for independence, including those who have aged out of the child protection system, to acquire construction skills and career competencies for stable entry into society. Every year, approximately 2,600 children must begin independent living when they turn 18 and their protection measures end. HDC Hyundai Development Company provides practical job training and on-site experience to help them find employment and achieve emotional stability.
The 30 trainees selected for the third class of Hope Dream Builder will attend theoretical and practical construction technology courses at the HDC Symphony Technical Training Center in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, and receive career and psychological counseling at a specialized counseling center. Organizations specializing in construction technology education, such as Jibeuroganungil, the Korea Housing Environment Research Institute, and Maumgonggan Psychological Counseling Center, will support theoretical and practical training as well as career education.
To boost morale and support entrepreneurial outcomes for the third class of Hope Dream Builder trainees, who will participate from August to December, one vehicle for residential repair will be provided to enable outstanding trainees to gain real professional field experience.
In the first and second classes, a total of 48 trainees completed both theoretical and practical training and participated in internships at related organizations. Some of the first class trainees are preparing for actual start-ups after completing the program, while the second class received enhanced, hands-on technical training in areas such as silicone application, woodworking, tiling, and insulation repair, which was evaluated as having significantly improved trainees' job competencies.
An HDC Hyundai Development Company representative stated, "HDC Symphony Hope Dream Builder is not just a vocational training program but a platform that supports youth independence. In addition to technical education, we help participants explore their own growth paths through career and psychological counseling, and after completion, we provide start-up support so they can become confident members of society. We will continue to expand the program to provide internship opportunities in construction as well as pathways into various fields such as social welfare."
