Kwon Giryong, Professor Emeritus at Pukyong National University, was recently appointed as a Distinguished Professor at Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.

The appointment period is from 2025 to 2027.
Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City conducted a global recruitment process and selected a total of 21 professors as Distinguished Professors, including 17 in the fields of artificial intelligence, IT, and semiconductors, and 4 in the field of life sciences. The selected professors come from Korea, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Australia, Japan, Singapore, and other countries, including Professor Kwon.
Professor Emeritus Kwon Giryong is an expert in IT and artificial intelligence who served as a professor in the Department of Computer and Artificial Intelligence Engineering at Pukyong National University until his retirement in February.
He was recognized for his outstanding research achievements in the field of artificial intelligence, as well as his practical experience gained while serving as the chairman of the Global Fintech Industry Promotion Center for six years.
Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, a prestigious university in Vietnam, has requested Professor Kwon to take on roles such as supporting education and research, facilitating connections with the Korean government and local governments, and especially promoting exchanges between Korean IT industries and related industries in Vietnam.
Professor Kwon plans to recruit outstanding graduate students, facilitate student exchange programs, organize international academic conferences, and serve as a coordinator for programs linked to KOICA and national projects.
