The Korean Red Cross (President Kim Cheolsu) announced on July 31 that NongHyup (President Kang Hodong) has donated 5 billion KRW to the Korean Red Cross to support disaster victims who suffered severe damage from heavy rains and to strengthen disaster resilience in local communities.
This donation was raised through the voluntary participation of all affiliates and employees of the NongHyup Central Association, and it is the largest amount ever donated by a single institution to the Korean Red Cross in relation to a disaster.
The donated funds will be used for direct support to help disaster victims recover their daily lives and to build relief infrastructure that strengthens disaster response capabilities. Through this, the donation is expected to contribute not only to short-term recovery but also to establishing a sustainable foundation for strengthening local communities' disaster response systems and resilience.
Kang Hodong, President of the NongHyup Central Association, stated, "I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the farmers and disaster victims who have lost their livelihoods and are going through difficult times due to the sudden heavy rainfall," and added, "NongHyup will provide practical, field-oriented recovery support so that affected farmers and disaster victims can return to their daily lives as soon as possible."
Kim Cheolsu, President of the Korean Red Cross, said, "NongHyup's donation will serve as a stepping stone for recovery for disaster victims who have lost their livelihoods due to the flood damage, and it will be an opportunity to strengthen disaster response capabilities in local communities." He continued, "The Korean Red Cross will ensure that this donation is systematically executed so that it can directly contribute to recovery and restoration."
