Dongil CNE, a company specializing in environmental and composite materials, announced on August 1 that it has simultaneously obtained the FM4910 flame-retardant material certification and the FM4922 flame-retardant duct certification from FM Approvals, one of the world's most prestigious testing and certification organizations.
FM4910 is a certification granted to flame-retardant materials that exhibit low flame spread and low density of combustion gases in the event of a fire. Dongil CNE received this certification for its self-developed flame-retardant FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic) material. FM4922 is a certification for duct systems that can suppress the spread of flames and smoke and maintain structural integrity during a fire. This certification can only be obtained by meeting essential fire safety standards required in advanced manufacturing industries such as chemicals, electronics, and energy.
FM Approvals is a U.S.-based research institute established in 1886 for fire prevention and hydraulic device testing, and has been issuing fire-related certifications since 1916. Today, it is recognized worldwide by insurance companies as a quality standard for fire safety and is also used as a criterion for insurance premium discounts. In particular, FM certification is known for its extremely strict post-certification management, including ongoing regular inspections to ensure continuous product quality.
Meanwhile, Dongil CNE is a specialized subsidiary of DI Dongil, which is evolving into an advanced materials company, focusing on environmental facilities and composite materials. The company manufactures and supplies equipment for the treatment of fine dust and hazardous gases generated in advanced industry factories such as semiconductors and displays.
A representative from DI Dongil stated, "Obtaining the FM certifications will serve as proof of Dongil CNE's global competitiveness," and added, "In addition to the existing semiconductor and display sectors, we are now able to supply high-performance flame-retardant equipment to a diverse range of industries including chemicals, steel, secondary batteries, and power plants. This achievement has laid the foundation for entering the global environmental market."
