Gwangmyeong City Accepting Name Submissions for Social Economy Innovation Center Until the 22nd

This public contest aims to reflect the identity and vision of the Social Economy Innovation Center, which will serve as a hub for the social economy, by gathering name suggestions from citizens.

The center will be created as a citizen-participatory, multi-purpose cultural hub where social economy enterprises, small business owners, and citizens can come together. Last December, the city purchased the building at 305-5 Haan-dong and is currently working on remodeling designs. Construction will begin next month, with the opening planned for March next year.

The center will consist of the following: a book cafe-style reception area on the first floor; a local product exhibition and sales space on the second floor; and educational, meeting, and collaboration spaces on the third and fourth floors. It will function as a multi-purpose platform that naturally connects citizens with the social economy.

Any Gwangmyeong citizen can easily participate through a Naver Form. The official name will be finalized on the 11th of next month after a survey of relevant departments and staff. The city will give coffee gift certificates to 20 participants selected by lottery.

Kim Kyunghee, Director of the Social Economy Division of Gwangmyeong City, said, "The very process of citizens participating directly in the naming contest embodies the value and practice of the social economy," and added, "We will ensure that the center becomes a community-based space that grows together with the local area."
