In particular, National Assembly member Cho Gyeweon (Yeosu-eul, Jeonnam), a member of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee, was present at the event and is known to have played a key role in encouraging the participation of both organizations and supporting the successful conclusion of the agreement.
Through this agreement, the three organizations have pledged to actively collaborate not only on domestic and international promotion and marketing activities for the Island Expo, but also on 'the development of island and marine tourism products and attracting visitors,' 'the creation of convergence content utilizing island cultural resources,' and 'support for the development of the tourism industry and the fostering of the content industry.' With the two leading public institutions in tourism and content promising support for the Island Expo, expectations are rising not only for the successful hosting of the event but also for new opportunities in the island and marine tourism sectors.
With just over 400 days remaining until the opening of the Island Expo, the Committee plans to accelerate efforts to create a buzz for the event by launching the joint development of island tourism products, attracting participating countries both domestically and internationally, holding the D-365 event, and commencing advance ticket sales.
Jeong Kimyeong, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, stated, "The Island Expo must go beyond a simple exhibition and become a platform for the convergence of island tourism and content," adding, "With today's agreement as a starting point, I hope we can work together not only for the successful hosting of the Island Expo but also to shape a new future for Korea's tourism and content industries."
