According to market research firm DRAMeXchange on July 31, the average fixed transaction price of standard PC DRAM products (DDR4 8Gb 1Gx8) in July was $3.90, up 50% from the previous month. This marks a sharp increase for the fourth consecutive month, following rises of 22.22% in April, 27.27% in May, and 23.81% in June.

DRAM prices had previously experienced double-digit declines in September 2024 (-17.07%) and November 2024 (-20.59%). After that, prices remained flat for four consecutive months until December 2024, before turning upward.

Notably, this month's average fixed transaction price is the highest since October 2021 ($3.71).

Analysts attribute the price increase of DDR4 products to two independent factors: first, major memory manufacturers have ended production, reducing the supply of older DDR4 products; second, demand from PC manufacturers for early inventory replenishment has continued.

Market research firm TrendForce explained, "The three DRAM suppliers (Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Micron) prioritized server DRAM demand over PC DRAM, resulting in supply pressure." The firm added, "In the third quarter, DDR4 prices surpassed DDR5 by about 4%, leading to a price reversal."

The average fixed transaction price of standard NAND flash products for memory cards and USBs (128Gb 16Gx8 MLC) in July was $3.39, up 8.67% from the previous month. NAND prices had declined for four consecutive months starting in September 2024, then rebounded in January 2025 (4.57%) and have now risen for seven consecutive months.
