Yoon Sukyeol's Side Cites Blindness and Temperature Regulation Concerns... Kim Keonhee Special Prosecutor to Execute Arrest Warrant Tomorrow

Yoon's Representatives: "Medical Certificates and Records Delivered to Detention Center"
Court Issues Arrest Warrant for Yoon This Morning
Tomorrow, Under the Direction of Special Prosecutor Moon Hongju, Prison Officers to Execute the Warrant

As the special prosecutor team investigating Kim Keonhee is set to execute an arrest warrant for former President Yoon Sukyeol on August 1, Yoon's representatives announced that they have submitted medical certificates and related documents to Seoul Detention Center, stating that it is difficult for him to comply with the investigation due to the risk of blindness.

On July 31, Yoon's representatives informed the media, "We have delivered a medical certificate, a physician's opinion, and all copies of medical records regarding former President Yoon Sukyeol to the Seoul Detention Center."

According to Yoon's representatives, "A diagnosis from a university hospital indicates that former President Yoon has been receiving regular ophthalmological procedures, but as he has not been able to receive treatment for three months, the risk of blindness is increasing. The medical institution has scheduled an ophthalmology procedure in August through a collaborative consultation, and we have requested an external medical visit for this purpose."

They further added, "There are concerns regarding former President Yoon's cardiovascular and carotid artery stenosis, as well as impaired temperature regulation due to autonomic nervous system damage. Although he may appear to be able to move around, he is experiencing significant difficulties due to various underlying conditions, making it hard for him to respond to the investigation and trial."

Citing health issues, former President Yoon did not comply with the special prosecutor team's summons on both July 29 and the following day. In response, the special prosecutor team concluded that Yoon had no intention of appearing and requested an arrest warrant the previous day, which was issued by the court on July 31.

At a regular briefing on July 31, Special Prosecutor Moon Hongju stated, "Tomorrow at 9 a.m., a special prosecutor, accompanied by a prosecutor and investigators, will visit Seoul Detention Center to execute the arrest warrant. We have been informed that there are no particular health issues."

If the arrest warrant is successfully executed, former President Yoon will be transported by escort vehicle to the special prosecutor team's office. However, even if the special prosecutor team brings Yoon into the interrogation room by executing the arrest warrant, it is highly likely that he will exercise his right to remain silent. As of July 31, Yoon had not yet submitted a notice of attorney appointment.
