Checking Heat Wave Response at Traditional Markets
Continued On-Site Support with Cooling Fans and Other Measures Planned
On the afternoon of July 30, Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo visited two markets, Jungang Market and Doma Geun Market, to directly inspect the response to the heat wave and efforts to revitalize traditional markets. During the visit, he stated, "We will continue to make efforts to create a pleasant traditional market environment where citizens can visit with peace of mind by implementing effective projects such as providing cooling fans."
This visit was arranged to directly check the progress of the 'Traditional Market Cooling Fan Support Project,' which aims to alleviate the discomfort of market merchants and visitors caused by the ongoing heat wave, and to encourage market merchants who are struggling with business during the summer season.
In particular, during this visit, the current operation status of the mobile cooling fans was inspected, and the actual satisfaction levels of market visitors and merchants, the installation locations, and the operating conditions were directly checked.
At the site, through a meeting with the merchants' association, various opinions were gathered not only on summer cooling support but also on environmental improvements such as parking and renovation of outdated facilities, as well as support for night markets.
Currently, Daejeon City has been operating a total of 82 cooling fans?47 at Jungang Market and 35 at Doma Geun Market?since July 20, and positive responses have continued, including increased visitor stay time and improved satisfaction with visits.
