The briefing was attended by Yangpyeong County Governor Jeon Jinseon, officials from relevant departments, and representatives from the service contractor. The meeting proceeded in the following order: an explanation of the contractor's tasks, a report on the implementation plan, a Q&A session, and concluding remarks from the governor.
In particular, since the master plan to be established this time will present the structure of urban space and directions for development, the county plans to form and operate a Residents' Planning Group and hold a public hearing in order to incorporate residents' opinions into policy.
The Residents' Planning Group will be composed of residents representing various age groups and occupations through an open recruitment process. They will participate in key decision-making processes, including identifying urban issues, proposing alternatives, and establishing the future vision. In addition, the public hearing will provide an opportunity for urban planning experts and residents to exchange opinions face-to-face, and sufficient public feedback will be gathered before finalizing the detailed plans to enhance feasibility and public acceptance.
Yangpyeong County Governor Jeon Jinseon emphasized, "The master plan we are establishing this time should not be a blueprint designed solely by the administration, but a vision for the city created together with the residents," adding, "We will provide opportunities for residents from all walks of life to participate and, through this, create a unique urban identity and future strategy for Yangpyeong County together."
Meanwhile, Yangpyeong County plans to announce the recruitment schedule for the Residents' Planning Group and the schedule for the public hearing through the county's official website and social media channels.
