On July 30, Mayor Kim Byungsoo held an educational meeting with the executive members of the 27th Gimpo City School Management Committee Council in the small conference room on the second floor of the City Hall main building. Together, they discussed current educational issues in Gimpo, areas where the educational environment needs improvement, and the direction of Gimpo's education, addressing both the present and future of education in the city.

On this day, Mayor Kim Byungsoo listened attentively to the opinions of the committee members, who are the main agents of school management. The committee members offered suggestions regarding various current issues faced by schools and the educational environment that needs improvement.

One parent commented, "Gimpo City has truly transformed the educational environment for our children. The changes are noticeable even within the schools. There have been overall improvements in the quality, diversity, and safety of education. In particular, I am grateful that the road expansion for the school route to Modam Elementary and Middle Schools has made it safer for children to commute to school." The parent added, "However, there are still some areas of concern, such as environments harmful to youth. I hope we can work together through active communication to further enhance the safety of our youth."

Mayor Kim Byungsoo stated, "Our children are Gimpo's future, and children and youth are the most respected citizens of Gimpo. Safety must be the top priority. In addition to the road expansion for Modam Elementary and Middle Schools, a new school route is being created for Daegot Elementary School. We will continue to do our best to create an educational environment where children can feel safe and to build a city free from facilities harmful to youth."

He continued, "Gimpo is undergoing greater change now than ever before. The city is making various efforts to become the best educational city. However, since school-related matters require cooperation with the Office of Education, I hope the executive members of the School Management Committee Council will continue to share their opinions and work together for the advancement of Gimpo's education."

Meanwhile, since being designated as a Special Education Development Zone last year, Gimpo City has rapidly emerged as the most prominent educational city, achieving significant changes in various areas such as specialized childcare, artificial intelligence and software education in cooperation with Yonsei University, foreign language education, education for youth with immigrant backgrounds, and support for autonomous public high schools.
