Son Sehwa, a member of the Pocheon City Council, suggested, "Pocheon, as a border area, has endured unique sacrifices," and proposed, "This should be reflected in national policy to enhance the persuasiveness of designating the Peace Economic Special Zone."
A Gyeonggi Province official stated, "We ask that you prepare a unique plan for the Pocheon Peace Economic Special Zone," and added, "We will thoroughly review the feasibility and development potential to establish a development plan for the Gyeonggi Province Peace Economic Special Zone."
Deputy Mayor Kim Jonghun said, "We will foster the Hantangang River area as a global hub for tourism and economic exchange and lay the foundation for Pocheon's growth through the designation of the Peace Economic Special Zone," adding, "We will actively pursue policy linkage with Gyeonggi Province and the Ministry of Unification, along with attracting private investment."
Pocheon City plans to incorporate the feedback gathered from the interim report meeting and finalize practical strategies and policy proposals at the completion report meeting in the second half of the year.
