At the site, Mayor Lee Chungwoo stated, "The recycling sorting center is not simply a place for separation work; it is a high-risk workplace where there is always a danger of fire and physical accidents." He emphasized, "In particular, it is urgent to prevent fire accidents caused by used batteries and lithium batteries, which have been occurring frequently recently."

Accordingly, he instructed on-site to install a separate storage area for batteries and to strengthen the response system, including the installation of isolation equipment.

This visit was organized to encourage the workers who quietly carry out recycling sorting tasks despite the heat, and to check the status of health management and safety measures during the heatwave period.

Additionally, Mayor Lee stated, "Preventing serious accidents is fundamental, and during the hottest season, the health and rest of workers are extremely important." He ordered the rapid establishment of a dedicated rest area for workers and thorough inspection of air conditioning and safety equipment.

Afterwards, the mayor personally inspected key areas of the sorting center where a fire occurred last May, and asked the site manager to revise the manuals for preventing similar accidents and to strictly check their implementation.

Taking this site visit as an opportunity, Yeoju City plans to continuously work on improving the working environment and expanding welfare by strengthening the fire prevention system at the recycling sorting center, enhancing preemptive measures for serious accidents, expanding rest areas, and establishing a safety management system for batteries.
