President Park Sangkyu visited the University of Georgia on July 25 and met with Vice President Benjamin Ayers to sign a cooperation agreement.

Through this MOU, Chung-Ang University and the University of Georgia will collaborate in various fields, including conducting joint research projects, exchanging faculty and researchers, expanding student exchange programs, holding joint academic conferences and workshops, and sharing academic information and resources.

With this agreement, the two universities have agreed to strengthen their strategic partnership beyond the existing fields of education and statistics, extending into areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology, medicine and pharmacy, and art engineering, and to promote joint research.

In particular, the University of Georgia plans to expand its faculty overseas short-term residency program, which is being introduced to promote international joint research, to relevant academic fields at Chung-Ang University. By matching this with Chung-Ang University's program for inviting distinguished international scholars, both institutions aim to maximize research collaboration outcomes.

Additionally, the two universities agreed to promptly sign a student exchange agreement so that student exchanges can begin in the second half of next year.

The University of Georgia has recently shown strong interest in Chung-Ang University's summer short-term program (CAT, Culture and Art Technology), which is popular among students from the United States and Europe, and plans to send its own students to participate in the program next summer.

Benjamin Ayers, Vice President of the University of Georgia, stated, "Chung-Ang University is one of Korea's leading prestigious universities, equipped with innovative research and an excellent educational system. Through this MOU, students from both universities will gain diverse cultural experiences and broad academic opportunities, which will greatly contribute to nurturing global leaders for the future."

President Park Sangkyu said, "This agreement is meaningful as it marks the beginning of full-scale research collaboration with the University of Georgia, the first public university in the United States. I look forward to students from both universities having valuable opportunities to visit and interact with each other as exchange students in the future."

Meanwhile, the University of Georgia, established in 1785, is the first public university in the United States and the flagship university of Georgia, with 40,000 students and over 3,000 faculty and staff members.

It is ranked among the top 20 public universities in the United States and has produced the largest number of Fulbright Scholars.

Additionally, the university has produced 28 recipients of the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship, which has been awarded to prominent figures such as former U.S. President Bill Clinton and former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.
