Gyeonggi Province to Provide Up to 300 Million Won for Semiconductor Design Commercialization

Gyeonggi Province will support the commercialization and market entry of fabless companies specializing in semiconductor design.

On July 31, Gyeonggi Province announced that it is recruiting companies to participate in the "Fabless Demand-Linked Mass Production Support Project" until August 22.

This project is a newly established support program funded by this year's supplementary budget, reflecting the feedback from the field raised at the fabless company communication meeting presided over by Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dongyeon in January.

Recognizing that many fabless companies face difficulties in commercialization due to technical constraints and cost limitations at the mass production stage after prototype development, Gyeonggi Province has focused on supporting demonstration projects and mass production performance evaluations based on connections with demand companies, with the aim of facilitating product commercialization and revenue generation.

Through this call for applications, Gyeonggi Province will select approximately nine companies. Each selected company will receive up to 300 million won, subject to partial self-funding.

Eligible applicants are fabless companies with their headquarters in the province that have been established for at least one year.

Gyeonggi Province will also promote various technology cooperation programs to support prototype demonstrations for fabless companies and to strengthen information exchange among participating companies. Through these efforts, the province aims to help local fabless companies move beyond simple development and establish a structure that leads to tangible sales.

Hong Seongho, Director of the Semiconductor Industry Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "The fabless industry is the core of system semiconductor competitiveness and a high value-added industry. Through this project, we will do our best to help fabless companies in the province pursue stable commercialization and establish a foundation for self-reliance."
