Mayor Lim Byungtaek of Siheung Requests Prompt Compensation for Gwangmyeong-Siheung New Town from LH

Request for Additional Industrial Complexes for Relocation of Businesses within the District

On July 30, Lim Byungtaek, Mayor of Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province, visited the Gwangmyeong-Siheung Project Headquarters of Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) to deliver a proposal requesting the prompt implementation of compensation and the preparation of relocation measures for the Gwangmyeong-Siheung Public Housing District.

The proposal includes the following: advancing the announcement of the compensation plan from 'the end of September' to 'the end of August'; adjusting the start of compensation from 'the second half of 2026' to 'June 2026'; promptly reviewing restrictions on indirect compensation in accordance with the 'Act on Acquisition and Compensation of Land, etc. for Public Works Projects'; and establishing additional industrial complexes for the relocation of factories and manufacturing businesses.


Previously, on July 25, Mayor Lim held a meeting with six countermeasure committees of Siheung City within the Gwangmyeong-Siheung District to gather residents' opinions.


Mayor Lim stated, "Residents of the area have been restricted from exercising their property rights for 15 years since the designation of the Bogumjari Housing District in 2010," and added, "LH must fully consider the residents' long-standing suffering and losses and take swift and proactive action in advancing the project."
