Woojung?Hyangnam in Hwaseong and Sinpyeong?Simgok in Pocheon Road Expansion Projects Break Ground on July 31

The road expansion and paving projects for National Route 82 (Woojung to Hyangnam section within Hwaseong City) and Local Road 368 (Sinpyeong to Simgok section within Pocheon City) officially commenced on July 31.

The National Route 82 Woojung to Hyangnam road expansion project involves widening a total of 7.27 kilometers of road connecting Eoeun-ri in Jangan-myeon and Jeam-ri in Hyangnam-eup, Hwaseong City, to a four-lane dual carriageway. The total project cost is 109.3 billion KRW, and the construction period is five years (60 months).

This section serves as a main arterial road connecting the Eoeun 1 Intersection in Jangan-myeon, Hwaseong City, to the Balan IC Intersection. The expansion is expected to significantly alleviate chronic congestion in the area, improve traffic convenience by enhancing mobility and accessibility through connections with nearby arterial networks, and contribute to balanced regional development.

The Local Road 368 Sinpyeong to Simgok road expansion and paving project will widen a total of 2.86 kilometers of road connecting Sinpyeong-ri in Sinpyeong-myeon and Simgok-ri in Sinbuk-myeon, Pocheon City, to a four-lane dual carriageway. The total project cost is 56.3 billion KRW, and the construction period is four years (48 months).

This section serves as a supplementary arterial road connecting the Sinbuk-myeon Administrative Welfare Center to Hasimgok Intersection (National Route 87). The road expansion and new sidewalk construction are expected to alleviate chronic congestion at the National Route 87 intersection, ensure traffic safety for local residents, improve accessibility to the Guri?Pocheon Expressway, and reduce logistics costs for the local industrial complex (Sinpyeong General).

Gyeonggi Province is currently promoting a detailed design service for tunnel construction and road improvement in the mountainous section connecting Deokdun to Gyeryu in Sinbuk-myeon, which is part of the same Local Road 368 route. The province plans to enhance the functionality of the supplementary arterial road through future budget allocation and expedited construction.

Cha Kyunghwan, Director of the Gyeonggi Provincial Construction Headquarters, stated, "We will make every effort to systematically expand chronic congestion sections through proactive investment and expansion of infrastructure, in order to alleviate transportation inconveniences for residents."
