Park Jun, Kim Sangkyu, and Kang Hwakyil Win the 23rd Yusim Award in Poetry, Sijo, and Fiction Categories

The Seorak·Manhae Thought Practice Promotion Association announced on July 30 that poets Park Jun and Kim Sangkyu, as well as novelist Kang Hwakyil, have been selected as the winners of the 23rd Yusim Award.

Poets Park and Kim were selected in the poetry and sijo categories, respectively, while novelist Kang was chosen in the fiction category. This year, there is no recipient in the literary criticism category.


The Yusim Award is presented to writers who have achieved outstanding literary accomplishments over the past two years and show strong potential for future development.


The Seorak·Manhae Thought Practice Promotion Association, a Buddhist cultural and arts organization, has been presenting the 'Yusim Literary Award' since 2003, and changed its name to the 'Yusim Award' starting last year.


Each recipient will receive a prize of 20 million won. The award ceremony will be held at 6:00 p.m. on September 5 in the main auditorium of the House of Writers at Manhae Village, Dongguk University, Inje-gun, Gangwon Province.
