Muan County Operates Specialized Baking and Pastry Training Program for Volunteers

'Dessert Making with Dreams' Program Held
Intergenerational volunteer training through hands-on baking and pastry-making

Muan County will hold the "Making Desserts Filled with Dreams" program for four days until the 1st of next month at the Chodang University Confectionery Dessert Practice Room. Provided by Muan County

Muan County in South Jeolla Province is operating a specialized volunteer training program focused on baking and pastry-making practice to promote volunteer activities through intergenerational exchange.

The county announced on July 30 that it is holding the "Dessert Making with Dreams" program four times from July 29 to August 1 at the baking and dessert practice room of Chodang University.

A total of 140 participants, including children from local children's centers in Muan County and senior citizen volunteers from the Muan County General Social Welfare Center, are taking part in this training. The lectures are being conducted by Professor Kim Yanghun from the Hotel Bakery Department in cooperation with the Chodang University Regional Contribution Center.

Participants are making salt bread and mini castella cakes themselves through hands-on practice, experiencing the role and meaning of volunteering, and also having time to freely share opinions and communicate across generations.

One child who participated in the training said, "It was amazing and fun to learn how to make bread," and added, "I want to actively participate in volunteer activities in the future."

Jang Youngsun, head of the Social Welfare Division of Muan County, stated, "We will continue to expand hands-on volunteer programs utilizing local resources through public-private cooperation and take the lead in creating a warm culture of sharing among county residents."
