Woo Seunghee, the governor of Yeongam County in Jeonnam, is taking swift action by visiting key government organizations in succession to secure the inclusion of regional strategic projects as national policy tasks and to obtain national funding support.

According to Yeongam County on July 30, Governor Woo visited the National Policy Planning Committee in Jongno, Seoul, on July 28, where he met with Park Honggeun, head of the planning division, and requested the inclusion of major projects, including the 'Energy Local Production and Consumption Green City 100,' as national policy tasks.

At the meeting, Governor Woo stated, "Considering President Lee Jaemyung's policy direction to foster renewable energy in the southwestern region, Yeongam is the optimal location for the designation of an RE100 industrial complex and the creation of an energy new city," adding, "We have already established a solid foundation for converting Daebul Industrial Complex into an energy self-sufficient smart industrial complex."

The county presented ongoing energy transition projects such as the 'Daebul Industrial Complex Energy Self-Sufficiency Infrastructure Construction' and the 'VPP (Virtual Power Plant) Platform Establishment' as examples, emphasizing their alignment with government policy as immediately executable national funding project models.

In addition, the county explained other regionally specialized projects such as ▲the construction of the National Baduk Training Center ▲the creation of the National Park Expo Valley ▲the Millennium Mahan Cultural Convergence ▲the ecological restoration of the Yeongsan River, as well as resident-oriented living SOC projects including ▲the construction of a safety experience education center ▲the establishment of a new IC between Yeongam and Suncheon on the Namhae Expressway ▲the UNESCO inscription of Gayageum Sanjo ▲the promotion of basic rural income.

Governor Woo stated, "Yeongam is ready to lead the new government's policy direction and can grow into a central region of the southwestern mega-economic zone by having its projects adopted as national policy tasks," adding, "We hope for the government's active support so that Yeongam can realize policies that align with balanced development and national strategies."

Previously, on July 7, the county visited the National Assembly and met with Jin Sungjoon, vice chair of the National Policy Planning Committee, and lawmaker Seo Samseok, among others, to request the inclusion of major regional projects as national policy tasks. On July 30, Governor Woo also met with Moon Sinhak, the first vice minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, to reiterate the request for the designation of the RE100 industrial complex.
