Strengthening Cooperation for Technology Exchange and Startup Ecosystem Development
On August 1, Hanyang University Industry-University Cooperation Foundation announced that it had signed separate agreements to strengthen industry-academic cooperation with the Haier Startup Center in China and the Shandong Electronics Society.

The signing ceremony, held on July 28 at the Hanyang Institute of Technology on campus, was attended by Ahn Jin-ho, Vice President for Research at Hanyang University, and Zhang Bo, Vice Chairman of the Shandong Association for Science and Technology, as representatives of each institution. In addition, a high-level delegation of 13 key figures from China's science and technology sector participated, including representatives from the Haier Startup Center, the Shandong Electronics Society, the Shandong Association for Science and Technology, the Youth Science and Technology Education Association, the Qingdao Association for Science and Technology, and various medical and artificial intelligence-related societies.
Through this agreement, Hanyang University and the Haier Startup Center will jointly pursue a range of collaborative projects, including: fostering a global innovative startup ecosystem and promoting international joint incubation; supporting Korean startups' entry into the Chinese market and connecting them with policy and distribution channels; providing entrepreneurship education and mentoring for students from both institutions; and expanding cooperation linked to the RISE project.
The Haier Startup Center is a global industry-based startup accelerator and a subsidiary of Haier Group, which is listed among the Fortune Global 500. It is currently collaborating with more than 3,000 startups worldwide.
With this agreement, Hanyang University plans to expand its collaborative efforts with the university's Startup Support Group, Technology Holdings Company, and the RISE Industry-Academic Cooperation Group.
On the same day, Hanyang University also signed an agreement with the Shandong Electronics Society, which has more than 1,200 member universities, companies, and organizations in Shandong Province.
The two institutions will explore various forms of cooperation, including research collaboration, professional talent exchange, and academic information sharing, to establish a new foundation for sustainable industry-academic exchange and further strengthen cooperation related to the RISE project.
Ahn Jin-ho, Vice President for Research at Hanyang University, stated, "Since establishing a center in Shanghai, China in 2004, Hanyang University has consistently promoted global industry-academic cooperation projects," adding, "We will actively serve as a hub for Korea-China industry-academic exchange in connection with the RISE project."
Meanwhile, in June, Hanyang University was selected for the 'Regional Innovation-led University Support System (RISE)' project and will receive a total of 19.5 billion KRW in government funding over five years.
Through this, the university plans to carry out three main projects: leading global industry-academic cooperation, attracting international talent for advanced future industries, and revitalizing the industry-academic cooperation ecosystem.
