Stolen 'John Wick' Luxury Watches Recovered in Movie-Like Operation

Engraved and gifted to stuntmen who appeared in the film
Six watches valued at approximately 173 million won

Six luxury watches belonging to Keanu Reeves, the protagonist of the "John Wick" film series, which were stolen last year, have been recovered in Chile. On the 29th (local time), AP and other international media reported that Chilean police arrested the burglars who broke into Reeves's home in California, USA, in December of last year. The stolen items were subsequently recovered from the suspects and handed over to the FBI. This operation was carried out jointly with US authorities based on FBI intelligence that a South American-based organization was targeting luxury residences in the United States for a series of burglaries.

A watch among the recovered items was engraved with the message, "Thank you. Five John Wicks. Keanu," making it clear who the owner was. Reeves had given these engraved watches as gifts to his stuntmen who stood in for him during the filming of "John Wick 4" in 2021. Previously, Chilean police announced in April that they had arrested 23 individuals connected to a series of burglaries in the United States.

The announcement regarding the recovery of Reeves's stolen watches coincided with a visit to Santiago, Chile, by US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, who was there to discuss efforts to curb drug cartel crimes and address immigration issues. According to AP, the value of the six watches, including Rolexes, which police believe belong to Reeves, is estimated at $125,000 (approximately 173 million won). Secretary Noem herself has also been a victim of theft by a Chilean national. In April, while dining with her family in Washington, DC, her wallet was stolen, and the perpetrator was later identified as being from Chile.
