"Best Performance Nationwide"... Gyeongnam Nonghyup Achieves Excellence Award in Economic Business Evaluation

Gyeongnam Nonghyup has been honored with the Excellence Award for achieving the best performance among the 16 regional headquarters nationwide in the economic business performance evaluation for the first half of the year.

According to Nonghyup on July 30, the economic business performance evaluation focuses on practical benefit projects for farmers by evaluating key areas such as supply and demand stability, administrative cooperation, sales and export of agricultural and livestock products, activation of agricultural machinery banks and material distribution centers, promotion of local food and online business at production sites, and activation of integrated livestock product purchasing, targeting all 16 regional headquarters nationwide.

In the first half of the year, the Gyeongnam Nonghyup Economic Business Division selected and focused on 13 core initiatives, including launching new cooperative projects with local governments, exporting agricultural and food products, revitalizing joint projects, fostering online business at production sites, operating agricultural machinery banks, expanding the base for smart livestock systems, and strengthening food safety and quality control.

Notably, by achieving $66 million in agricultural and food exports in the first half of the year, Gyeongnam Nonghyup secured a 54% national market share. In addition, rice export volume to Japan grew 2.5 times compared to the same period last year by pioneering new markets.

Furthermore, Gyeongnam Nonghyup signed a business agreement with the local traditional liquor manufacturer Maelgeun Naeil to promote the activation of processed rice food products, thereby establishing a foundation to boost local rice consumption. The organization also entered into an agreement with Gyeongsangnam-do and Korea Electric Power Corporation to reduce farming energy costs, actively working to cut energy expenses for farmers.

To respond to abnormal weather conditions and ensure a stable supply of agricultural products, smart farm facilities for horticulture were distributed to 235 selected farms. When the prices of major Gyeongnam products such as green chili peppers and onions fell, Gyeongnam Nonghyup collaborated with local governments to support prices through promotional events and exports.

Ryu Gilnyeon, head of the headquarters, emphasized, "In the second half of the year, all employees will work even harder to provide practical benefits to farmers by strengthening the production and distribution infrastructure of agricultural cooperatives, enhancing the competitiveness of supplying agricultural materials, revitalizing the sales of agricultural and livestock products, and creating added value in agricultural and food products."
