Nonsan Completes Rice Flour Milling Facility, Paving the Way for a New Rice Consumption Market

Nonsan City in South Chungcheong Province has officially launched efforts to establish a regionally self-sufficient consumption system centered on rice flour, aiming to boost domestic rice consumption and increase farmers' incomes.

The city announced on the 30th that it held a completion ceremony for a milling facility, the core hub of the "Rice Flour Regional Self-Sufficiency Consumption Model Project," at Yeonnong Distribution in Yeonsan-myeon on the 29th.

More than 100 people attended the event, including Mayor Baek Seonghyeon, Hong Manki, CEO of Yeonnong Distribution, and other related officials.

The dedicated rice flour milling facility is a key infrastructure for producing rice flour as a substitute for wheat flour, and it is expected to play an important role in securing the price competitiveness of rice flour.

Rice flour contains no gluten, which reduces the risk of allergies or digestive disorders, and it has high potential for use in various food processing industries such as baking and noodle production.

Until now, market expansion was difficult due to high unit costs. However, with the establishment of this facility, production costs have been reduced and a stable supply base has been secured.

The city plans to supply locally produced rice flour to school meal programs and processed food companies, creating a self-sufficient circulation system in which local agricultural products are prioritized for consumption within the local industry. Through this, the city aims to achieve a real increase in farmers' incomes and to build a sustainable rice industry ecosystem.

Mayor Baek Seonghyeon stated, "Rice flour is both a new solution and an opportunity to overcome the crisis in the rice consumption market," and added, "Nonsan will take the lead in enhancing the competitiveness of the rice flour industry and expanding the local consumption base, providing full support for these efforts."

Hong Manki, CEO of Yeonnong Distribution, said, "Based on the newly completed facility, we will do our utmost to ensure that Nonsan rice flour establishes itself in the national consumer market."
