Youth from Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, have successfully completed an international exchange program with youth from Zibo, Shandong Province, China.

According to Gwangju City on July 30, the international exchange program, hosted by the city and organized by the Gwangju Youth Center, was held in the Zibo area of China for seven days and six nights from July 22 to July 28. Sixty youth from both cities participated, enjoying a rich schedule that included diverse cultural experiences, homestays, and school visits, during which they built friendships.
In particular, this exchange was a continuation of last year’s reciprocal visit program, in which Gwangju City invited youth from Zibo, further confirming the sustainability and trust of youth exchanges between the two cities. Since their first exchange in 2004, Gwangju and Zibo have held a total of 26 international youth exchanges to date.
Youth who participated in this program experienced traditional culture in Zibo, homestays with Chinese families, and attended local school classes. Through these activities, they went beyond simple tourism to experience genuine cultural exchange. This provided a valuable opportunity to learn to understand and respect each other's cultures and to grow as global citizens.
Mayor Bang Sehwan said, "It was a meaningful time for our youth to step out of their daily routines, experience diverse cultures, and develop a global perspective and sense of community through exchanges with local peers. We will continue to actively promote a wide range of international exchange programs with various countries so that our youth can understand the world and grow into global talents who embrace diverse cultures."
