Baemin to Operate Over 3,000 Emart24 Stores as Summer Shelters for Riders

Expansion from Seoul to the Entire Metropolitan Area

On July 30, Woowa Brothers Youth, the logistics service provider for Baemin, announced that, in cooperation with the Ministry of Employment and Labor and Emart24, it will operate Emart24 convenience stores in the Seoul metropolitan area as summer and winter rest shelters for delivery riders. Riders who visit these shelters will also receive mobile coupons.

This initiative is an extension of the "Mobile Worker Companion Shelter Collaboration Project," which Woowa Brothers Youth launched last year together with Emart24 and the Seoul Labor Rights Center. Last year’s project received positive feedback for several reasons: designating convenience stores with high accessibility and effectiveness; enabling immediate implementation by utilizing existing infrastructure; establishing a win-win model between franchise owners and riders; and achieving zero complaints during the operation period.

In response, Woowa Brothers Youth is expanding both the scale of support and the number of participating organizations. Unlike last year, when the project was limited to Seoul, this year it will be implemented throughout the entire Seoul metropolitan area (Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon), and the number of participating convenience stores has increased to approximately 3,000. From this year, the Ministry of Employment and Labor is also participating in the project for the first time.

To make it easier for riders to use the shelters, Emart24 mobile coupons worth 10,000 won will be provided. These coupons will be given to riders who participate in safety activities such as safety education and safety campaigns at Baemin Rider School, which is operated by Woowa Brothers Youth.

A representative from Woowa Brothers Youth stated, "Continuing from last year, we aim to provide practical assistance to riders by utilizing highly accessible and effective convenience store infrastructure as rest shelters. As we are now able to offer a safer resting environment to more riders, we will continue to reflect feedback from the field and pursue mutually beneficial activities that provide real support for our rider partners."
