Woongjin Thinkbig Expands Korean Language Learning Service 'Thinkbig TOPIK' to Nepal

Signed MOU with Kathmandu University and Private School Association

Woongjin Thinkbig announced on July 30 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Kathmandu University and the Private and Boarding Schools' Organization Nepal (PABSON) to promote its artificial intelligence (AI)-based Korean language learning service, "Thinkbig TOPIK," in Nepal.

Under the agreement, Woongjin Thinkbig will work with Kathmandu University to explore ways to expand Korean language education in Nepal and will conduct pilot classes using "Thinkbig TOPIK" in selected private schools through PABSON. Based on these initiatives, the company plans to significantly expand its Korean language education business in Nepal starting next year.

Nepal ranks among the top five countries in terms of the number of international students in Korea, and demand for Korean language learning for study and employment purposes is rapidly increasing. Korean is included as a second foreign language in the national curriculum, and Kathmandu University established a Department of Korean Language in April last year, further expanding Korean language education.

"Thinkbig TOPIK" is a language learning solution that leverages AI to provide learners with customized curricula and feedback, offering an optimal AI-based learning method for improving scores on the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK). In particular, the "AI Writing Tutor" evaluates learners' answers in real time and provides detailed feedback, and the service is available in 10 languages, including Korean.

"Thinkbig TOPIK" has already conducted pilot classes at eight schools, including Silpakorn University, through an agreement with the Korean Education Center in Thailand, and has been adopted as the official evaluation tool for scholarship selection exams in Nigeria. The company plans to continue expanding its presence in the global Korean language education market by pursuing agreements with institutions such as the University of Kansas in the United States.

A Woongjin Thinkbig representative stated, "There is strong interest from overseas educational institutions because AI-customized learning enables rapid improvement in scores," adding, "With this agreement, we aim to expand global partnerships and contribute to the promotion of Korean language education."
