Promoting Tumbler Usage Culture
LG Electronics Launches Social Media Event for myCup Users
Expanding myCup Installations in Starbucks Stores and Universities
B2B Subscription Model Offers Enhanced Management and Care Services
LG Electronics is working to promote the widespread use of tumblers by utilizing its tumbler-specific washer, myCup.
On July 30, LG Electronics announced that it will hold an event from that day until August 27, offering gifts to customers who post reviews of their experience using myCup on social media.
To participate in this event, customers can upload reviews of their tumbler cleaning experience on platforms such as Instagram or blogs, using the hashtags #TumblerWasher, #LGmyCup, and #StarbucksTumblerWasher. LG Electronics will select 2,000 participants by lottery and offer prizes such as StanbyMe 2, LG tiiun mini, and Starbucks gift certificates.
myCup is a product developed based on LG Electronics' dishwasher technology. It features a 360-degree rotating cleaning blade and uses 65-degree Celsius high-temperature, high-pressure water to clean both the inside and outside of tumblers, as well as the lids. It offers three cleaning courses: quick (30 seconds), standard (4 minutes), and dry (9 minutes 50 seconds). The product has been certified by the global certification body TUV Rheinland for its ability to eliminate 99.999% of three types of harmful bacteria.
LG Electronics is holding a certification event for the use of its tumbler-exclusive cleaner, 'LG MyCup,' to promote the culture of using tumblers. From the 30th until the 27th of next month, those who post reviews of using MyCup on social media will be entered into a draw where 2,000 winners will receive gifts such as the StanbyMe2 and Starbucks gift cards. In response to the increasing B2B (business-to-business) demand for ESG (environmental, social, and governance) solutions, LG Electronics developed myCup after conducting approximately three years of field testing at Starbucks stores since last year. The product was launched on April 22 this year, in celebration of Earth Day.
Currently, myCup is installed in about 400 Starbucks stores, with plans to expand to 2,000 stores by the end of the year. In addition, installations are being extended to universities such as Seoul National University, Kyung Hee University, and Pusan National University; companies including Hyundai Motor Company Gangnam Office, Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation, and Kyobo Life Insurance; as well as public offices such as Gyeongnam Provincial Government and Ansan City Hall.
myCup has also enhanced management convenience through a B2B subscription model. Subscription customers receive professional care services every three months, including steam cleaning, filter replacement, and damage inspection.
Lee Hyangeun, head of HS CX at LG Electronics, stated, "We will continue our promotional activities so that myCup can establish itself as a new B2B subscription business model for LG Electronics and contribute to the spread of tumbler usage culture."
