Gyeonggi Province will provide 1 million won in cash to 2,650 young newlywed couples.
On July 30, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will accept applications for the "2025 Gyeonggi Youth Marriage Support Program" from August 1 to August 29, aiming to ease the financial burden on young newlyweds and help stabilize their lives.
The Gyeonggi Youth Marriage Support Program was selected this year as a participatory budget project, following a proposal by the Gyeonggi Youth Participation Organization last year and a review by the Youth Policy Coordination Committee. A total of 2,650 young newlywed couples will receive 1 million won in cash.
To be eligible, both spouses must meet all four of the following requirements: be registered residents of Gyeonggi Province; be born between January 1, 1985 and December 31, 2006; have registered their marriage between January 1, 2025 and the application date; and have a combined annual income of 80 million won or less in 2024.
Gyeonggi Province will select the final recipients based on criteria such as the length of residence in Gyeonggi Province over the past five years and the couple's combined income in 2024. The marriage support funds will be distributed in November.
Kim Sunhwa, Director of the Youth Opportunity Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Since this program is being implemented based on direct proposals from young people, we hope for active interest and participation from young newlywed couples."
