On July 29, Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dongyeon purchased books using a livelihood recovery consumption coupon at Gwanghwamun Seolim, a local bookstore located in Pajang-dong, Jangan-gu, Suwon.
Gwanghwamun Seolim is a well-known local bookstore that serves as a community space where local residents interact through books. The bookstore also participated in the "2024 Public Interest Activity Festa: Welcome to Public Land" event hosted by Gyeonggi Province.
On this day, Governor Kim visited Gwanghwamun Seolim, greeted the bookstore's representative Jung Siyoung, browsed the books inside, and purchased two books to read during his summer vacation: "Harbin" by Kim Hoon and "Like a Flowing River" by Shelley Read.
Governor Kim, who received the livelihood recovery consumption coupon in the form of local currency, paid for the books using his physical Suwon Pay card.

Governor Kim told Representative Jung, "The economy is very difficult and people's livelihoods are tough, so the government has distributed livelihood recovery consumption coupons to help those in need. I came here to use the coupon myself and stimulate consumption. I am doubly happy to use the coupon and buy books I like."
The livelihood recovery consumption coupon is a consumption support policy provided by the Lee Jaemyung administration to all citizens. The amounts are as follows: 150,000 won for the top 10% income bracket, 250,000 won for the general public, 400,000 won for single-parent and lower-income families, and 500,000 won for basic livelihood recipients (with an additional 50,000 won for residents in population-declining areas such as Gapyeong and Yeoncheon). The coupons are distributed in two phases.
As of July 29, the number of applicants for the consumption coupon in the province reached 11,480,102, which is 84.6% of all eligible recipients, and the total application amount was 1.8414 trillion won.
