Gyeongbuk Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center
Achieves 'Best (S) Grade' for Six Consecutive Years
Leads Regional Digital Transformation and Global Expansion
The Gyeongbuk Technopark Gyeongbuk Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center has once again proven itself as a leader in smart manufacturing innovation in South Korea by achieving the 'Best (S) Grade' for the sixth consecutive year in the '2024 Regional Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center Performance Evaluation' organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
The Gyeongbuk Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center has spared no effort in providing comprehensive support for the digital transformation of local companies.
As a result, the center has driven improvements in business structure through various projects, including: ▲General Government Type (10.8 billion KRW), ▲Digital Cluster (4.18 billion KRW), ▲Autonomous Smart Factory (200 million KRW), ▲K-Smart Lighthouse Factory (400 million KRW), and ▲Smart Manufacturing R&D (100 million KRW).
Notably, it was the only Technopark nationwide to be selected as an 'Autonomous Factory Planning Institution.' The center achieved tangible results by establishing leading smart factory models, providing tailored consulting and full-cycle project management to two companies, Sewon E&I and Hantech.
The center's efforts to expand smart factories in the region are also noteworthy. It secured a total of 5.21 billion KRW in local government funding, laying the foundation for smart factory establishment at the city and county level. In 2025, it plans to secure an additional 2.51 billion KRW to further strengthen its cooperation system with basic local governments.
The Gyeongbuk Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center is not content with domestic achievements and is now setting its sights on the global market. By securing an ODA-linked project (12 billion KRW in national funding) for the establishment of the Uzbekistan Digital Manufacturing Technology Center, it has provided a springboard for domestic suppliers to expand overseas and made significant contributions to global performance expansion.
Ha Inseong, President of Gyeongbuk Technopark, stated, "We are establishing a support system for every stage of the lifecycle to promote smart manufacturing innovation in the region, and we will take the lead in creating an AI-based smart factory ecosystem."
