Public-Private Cooperation System Mobilized
Heavy Equipment and Personnel Dispatched One After Another
Uiseong County in North Gyeongsang Province is making an all-out effort to support recovery operations in Sancheong County, South Gyeongsang Province, which recently suffered severe damage due to record-breaking torrential rains. This support involves both public officials and private citizens working together.
On July 25, the county, through the Uiseong County Volunteer Center (headed by Jeong Myungkwan), urgently dispatched heavy equipment such as excavators and dump trucks, along with volunteers, to carry out large-scale removal of earth and sand and to repair access roads.
On July 26, more than 30 members of the Uiseong County branch of the Korea Freedom Federation (headed by Kim Youngsik) visited the site to participate in recovery activities.
On July 28, 40 public officials from Uiseong County Office were deployed as support personnel to carry out practical recovery work, including removing earth and sand from inside and around homes, repairing roads, and collecting waste.
Additionally, on July 29, more than 30 members of the Uiseong County Saemaeul Association (headed by Park Heeyong) are scheduled to join the site, and on July 31, more than 40 members of the Uiseong County Autonomous Disaster Prevention Corps (headed by Song Seungmok) are expected to participate as well.
Kim Jusu, the governor of Uiseong County, stated, "Public officials and private citizens are joining forces so that residents affected by the flood can return to their daily lives as soon as possible," and added, "We will continue to respond quickly to disaster situations and further strengthen our warm and cooperative system to help our neighbors."
Uiseong County has previously taken the lead in recovery support by dispatching personnel and equipment several times during past typhoons and heavy rain disasters. The county plans to continue close cooperation with neighboring local governments to maintain a mutual support system for overcoming disasters in the future.
