Full-Scale Efforts to Attract Strategic Industries Begin
Buyeo County in South Chungcheong Province is embarking on a major transformation to become the industrial and economic hub of southern Chungnam by developing a large-scale general industrial complex.
Going beyond simple land development, the county has officially launched the "Self-Sustaining Economic City Project," which links job creation with the attraction of strategic industries.
According to Buyeo County on July 29, the Buyeo General Industrial Complex will be connected to the Seoul metropolitan area within about one hour via the Seobu Buyeo IC and the Buyeo-Pyeongtaek Expressway. It is also located within approximately 40 minutes of major cities in the central region, such as Sejong and Daejeon, providing excellent transportation and logistics conditions. This offers a highly competitive location optimized for business activities.
The county plans to attract strategic industries in 10 sectors, including batteries, food, and chemicals, within the industrial complex, and will begin phased land sales starting in the second half of 2026.
Various incentives will be provided to investing companies, including local tax reductions, support for infrastructure, and one-stop administrative services.
In particular, the designation as an Opportunity Development Zone is expected to further accelerate regional economic synergy by promoting investment linked to the industrial complex, attracting external companies, and drawing in young talent.
County Governor Park Junghyun stated, "The Buyeo General Industrial Complex is not just a development project but a starting point for transforming Buyeo's industrial landscape," adding, "We will foster it as a sustainable growth base and build the foundation for future industries."
