Yeongam County in South Jeolla Province is launching a talent development initiative through a mutual growth learning exchange program between local university students and elementary and middle school students.

The Yeongam County Future Education Foundation announced on the 29th that it held the "2025 University Student Mentoring Program Partnership Ceremony and Orientation" at the Yeongam County Youth Training Center on the 25th.

This program is part of a local talent development project that has been running since 2023. Its goal is to promote mutual growth by fostering both academic guidance and emotional connection between university student mentors and elementary and middle school mentees.

This year's summer vacation program will involve 16 university student mentors and 33 elementary and middle school student mentees. It will run for four weeks starting from the 28th. Each mentor will be responsible for two to three mentees, and they will participate together in activities such as self-development, motivation, and cooperation.

The foundation plans to actively support the mentoring program so that it goes beyond simple academic guidance and contributes to building social relationships between mentors and mentees, as well as strengthening the sense of community in the region.

Lee Gihyung, Secretary-General of the foundation, said, "We will do our best to ensure that this program becomes a virtuous cycle education model where university students from Yeongam and local students can grow together."
