On the 28th, Gapyeong County announced that it had signed a mutual cooperation agreement for emergency power supply with the "Power Alliance," which consists of Korea Electric Power Corporation, Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, and the Northern Gyeonggi Electrical Contractors Association.
Flooded homes can only receive official power supply after completing indoor wiring repairs and safety inspections. However, since this process takes considerable time, there were concerns that affected residents would face prolonged inconvenience.
In response, the county and the Power Alliance decided to install temporary power facilities and enable the use of emergency electricity to minimize inconvenience for affected residents.
Under the agreement, Gapyeong County will handle demand registration and support installation costs; Korea Electric Power Corporation will install incoming power lines; the Electrical Contractors Association will be responsible for facility construction; and the Electrical Safety Corporation will conduct pre-use inspections, thereby activating a rapid power restoration system.
A Gapyeong County official said, "With public and private sectors working together for power restoration, we will do our utmost to help residents return to their daily lives as soon as possible."
Residents in need of temporary power facilities should contact the Small Business Support Division at Gapyeong County Office or their local township or town Administrative Welfare Center.
