This research project was conducted for the first time based on the 'Pocheon City Educational Development Ordinance' enacted in July last year. It was prepared in connection with the business plans to be promoted as Pocheon City has been selected as a pilot (leading) area for the Educational Development Special Zone.
The project analyzed exemplary cases of Educational Development Special Zones in other local governments. It also presented mid-to-long-term development directions and implementation strategies suitable for Pocheon City's educational environment, based on citizen surveys and expert opinions.
In particular, the survey results showed that citizens responded positively to projects such as support for school excursions, the student shuttle bus 'Pochun Bus', the smart safety shuttle 'Pouri', and lifelong education for people with disabilities. Citizens also expressed the opinion that the city should move toward an educational ecosystem that harmonizes nature, technology, and culture.
Baek Younghyeon, Mayor of Pocheon City, said, "This basic plan is a blueprint for Pocheon-style educational policies created together with citizens," and added, "We will make Pocheon a city of education where everyone can empathize with learning and growth."
Pocheon City plans to carefully review the opinions presented at this report meeting, reflect them in the final report, and establish an implementation plan to fully launch the related policies.
